Writing Points monthly ezine
Free help for busy writing teachers

four pencils

Writing Points is a free ezine for busy English teachers, homeschooling parents, and others who work with teens and adult writers. It has:

  • No jargon.

  • No page-long paragraphs.

  • No ivory-tower dissertations.

It's the straight skinny from one writing teacher to another.

What you'll find in each issue

Each issue:

  • Focuses on teaching essential knowledge and skills.

  • Offers ways to make writing assignments multitask.

  • Gives tips teaching for teenage and adult students with learning difficulties.

  • Shows how to teach for higher-level learning.

  • Recommends free and inexpensive resources.

You can see you can expect by checking back issues in the archives.

What you won't ever find

You don't find anything about teaching third graders to write short stories. The ezine is focused entirely on teaching expository nonfiction to teens and adults.

How the sign-up process works

When you fill in the form below, you will receive a confirmation email. It will ask you if you really want the ezine. This is to protect you from having someone else submit your address.

After you have comfirmed your subscription, you may choose a thank-you gift from this selection of all the resources available only to Writing Points subscribers.

Note, please, the downloads are for your use only; it is illegal to provide copies to any other person.

On the 15th of each month you'll get a note in your in-box giving you links to articles in that month's ezine. The notice will also give you the password you need to access the subscribers-only materials on this website.

I know it's a bit of a nuisance having to leave your inbox to read the news, but the broken links that showed up in the email version of the newsletter drove subscribers crazy. And the website version looks a lot nicer, too.

Learning a lot

I love your site! Thanks! I am learning a lot. I'm a home school mom getting an 8th grader ready this year to start public high school next year.
