Register for these workshop-type learning courses online for 2011 using the form on this page:

  • Informal Writing Prompts

  • Formal Writing Prompts

  • Get Creative with the 5-Paragraph Essay

  • Shape Creativity in Nonfiction Writing

  • Plagiarism Prevention

You will find dates and times on the learning courses online calendar accessible from the menu at the left.

Please submit your application at least 24 hours before a course is scheduled to start. I have to invoice you and receive payment before I can send you the link that lets you in to the classroom. I need a little time to take care of those details.

Beware of school email blockers

I normally respond to contact form messages within 24 hours. If your school is one that with many filters in place to protect against spam and viruses, you may wish to sign up from a personal, non-school email account. Often that's less trouble than trying to locate an missing mail. I need to be able to invoice you via PayPal and will need to get a link to the URL for the class in order to attend. If my messages can't reach you, you'll won't be able to attend the workshop.

How the online sessions work

I teach my learning courses in an online classroom at WiZiQ.com. The courses include presentations and discussion. They usually include informal writing as well.

In order to participate, you need:

  • A free WiZiQ account (no software downloads required)

  • Internet access

  • Keyboard and mouse

  • Speakers

  • A text editing program (one that saves work with a .txt extension, like Notepad) for informal writing to share with the group.

Ideally you should have a microphone so you can participate orally as well as through text. Conversation makes the workshops more interesting.

After you submit your resgistration form, I suggest you sign up for a free WiZiQ account using the same name and email you use to register. If you like, you can invite me to be your WiZiQ contact. That will make it easier for me to get you your workshop information: I won't have to copy any addresses. Once you have set up your account, you will have the option of checking your equipment. That takes just a minute or two.

Time zone note

I live in the Eastern time zone in the US where we observe Daylight Savings Time. You can check a time zone calculator to see what time learning courses are online in your time zone. Plug in "New York, New York" as my city, and the date and time of the first class session to get the class time where you live.
