The persuasive essay is organized on a pattern of thesis and support. The steps in writing a persuasive essay are:

1. Pick a topic (subject) if you have not been given one.
2. Build a working thesis from that topic.
3. Build a writing skeleton for the body paragraphs from your working thesis.
4. Test the skeleton; refine it and your working thesis OR start over with another working thesis.
5. Find support for your writing skeleton using ripple strategy or a similar strategy to help you evaluate what sources you have available and what evidence you will need to research.
6. Research to fill the gaps in your discussion.
7. Compose the entire essay draft, adding an introduction and conclusion to the material you have prepared for the body paragraphs.
8. Revise your essay, making sure you covered all the points you included in your plan.
9. Edit your essay for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors (like writing headace instead of headache.

Strictly speaking, a persuasive essay does not need to acknowlege, let alone refute, any opposition to the thesis. However, some teachers use the terms persuasive essay and argument essay interchangeably. If your teacher is one of those, you will need to identify and deal with arguments that oppose your thesis.
