Essay help with thesis for literary comparison
I would like essay help to eventually evolve my understanding so to produce a thesis and two topic sentences involving two works: - "My Last Duchess" by Robert Browning (Dramatic Monologue)
- "The Portrait" by Dante G. Rossetti (Petrarchan Sonnet)
When comparing "My Last Duchess" with "The Portrait" by Dante G. Rossetti, what do the works say about art? Surely the Duke in Browning's Dramatic Monologue seeks control over his late duchess, but does the speaker in Rossetti's sonnet feel the same? Linda respondsThis essay help forum is to provide help with the writing process. I'm have to ignore the questions you asked about literature. I suspect that the reason you are asking questions here is that you don't have a clue about compare and contrast writing. The previous two posters to this essay help forum had the same problem. Compare and contrast writing is writing done to answer a question. The thesis statement is the short, single sentence response to the question. - If your question is "what do "My Last Duchess" and "The Portrait" say about art?" your working thesis statement is your answer.
- If your question is "Do the narrators in "My Last Duchess" and "The Portrait" both seek control?" your working thesis statement is your answer.
A topic sentence is a reason for believing a thesis to be true. The relationship between the thesis and the topic sentences is best seen in the writing skeleton. Note that topic sentences are created the same way whether you have a single topic to discuss or whether you are writing a comparison/contrast essay that has two elements. (The fact that the element(s) may be works of literature has no bearing on the overall organization.) I am sorry I cannot be more helpful. If you had read and followed directions posted in the essay help forum, it might have been possible to give you help specific to your problem.
