College admissions essay help needed

I do not know how to start my essay. I am just looking for the right thesis statement. I can even think of one. I don't really understand the question. Here is the question "WHAT WILL YOUR PRESENCE ADD TO THIS COLLEGE?"

Linda responds: When you need help understanding a writing prompt before you can even ask for essay help, get out a dictionary. Look up the words you cannot understand. Substitute the dictionary definitions for the words in the prompt.

If you follow that procedure with the prompt you were given, you'll find out that the college wants to know how your being in that college would improve the college. You really knew that, didn't you? Surely there aren't any words in the writing prompt that you had never seen before, are there?

As you indicate, your thesis statement must be a single sentence response to the question. Whatever you respond must be broad enough to let you give some specific illustrations. I cannot answer the question for you because I'm not you.

The best I can do is to invent a silly response based on what you wrote. Your thesis could be, "My presence will give teachers a real challenge." For your support, you could make these points:

  • My presence will give teachers a real challenge because I don't follow directions.

  • My presence will give teachers a real challenge because I have not mastered elementary school grammar.

  • My presence will give teachers a real challenge because I expect someone else to do my thinking for me.

I'm deliberately being rough with you because I don't think you even attempted to solve this problem yourself before you gave up and posted your question in the essay help forum.

College will require you to exert yourself to do some thinking on your own. You'd better practice before you get there.

Best of luck to you.
